Warning: The above video contains offensive language. This YouTube video (that the police have asked You Tube to remove) is of an incident filmed on Monday 28th November, 2011. Miss West was later arrested by British Transport Police and was charged with a racially aggravated public order offence under Section 4A of the Public Order Act 1986. Miss West was held in overnight in police cells and appeared before Croydon Magistrates Court on Tuesday 29th November. Miss West, a 34-year-old mother of two did not enter a plea to the charge, and has been remanded in custody while psychiatric reports are prepared. It was revealed in court that Miss West has been suffering from depression since she was 18, receiving treatment at facilities in Purley and West Croydon. Miss West is due to appear before Croydon Magistrates’ Court again on Tuesday 6th December 2011. Her children have been taken into care by Croydon Social Services.
British Gazette comment: It is clear that Miss West is both a foul mouthed xenophobe and a political prisoner.
She should be entitled to her opinion and freedom of expression, but this should not constitute a licence to verbally abuse and harass one’s fellow human beings. Equally however, the element of political persecution is evidenced in two forms:
Firstly: the existence of the charge itself – the words “racially aggravated” – says it all. Parliament (which let us remind ourselves is in actual fact an unlawful assembly) has singled out offences with a racial motivation for especially severe treatment that by definition puts Miss West into the category of committing a political offence.
Secondly: the severe treatment Miss West is receiving. A remand into custody which will represent a two week prison sentence (50% remission) by the time of her next appearance in court. The removal of her two children is inevitable when a mother is incarcerated.
How the authorities deal with Miss West will illustrate just how far this country will have progressed towards totalitarianism.
